Met Gala 2014: Best Dressed

A few favourites from this years Met Gala.

The theme for this years gala was 'Charles James: Beyond Fashion' which is the perfect theme for this years Oscars of Fashion. Giving the guests the ability to have as much fun with the theme as they see fit (or not so much in a few cases..) and having so many different interpretations is part of the allure for me.

For me, the standout of the night was Karoline Kurkova in that navy Marchesa masterpiece. There are few events that a gown like this one is appropriate, and a gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute is one of them. It's nothing short of a stunning piece of art, and Karolina is just exuding glamour and elegance.

Runners up for me included Naomi Watts in Givenchy Haute Couture, Blake Lively in that stunning curve-hugging Gucci gown, and Hailee Steinfeld in Prabal Gurung.

Who were your favourites of the night?

  1. Beyonce and Rihanna! Two best-dressed divas for me!

    1. Beyoncé is always flawless, and I didn't mind Rihanna's Stella McCartney! Great choices x

  2. Anna Kendrick and Emma Stone stood out as favourites. Simple sometimes says more to me than some of the more complex outfits on the red carpet. Chloe Grace Mortez had an outfit that was just too awkward for me and Lupita Nyong'o unfortunately clouded her amazing beauty with an outfit that was way too loud and reminded me of Disney's 'Princess and the Frog', but perhaps that was what she was going for?

    1. I love Emma Stone, she looked stunning in the pink; and the cutout top of Anna Kendricks gown was beautiful without being boring. I'm also inclined to agree with you on the worst dressed, Chloe Grace proves that just because it's Chanel doesn't mean it's perfect, and Lupita (although I love her) apparently misunderstood the 'with decorations' wording in the theme. I'd also be adding Kate Upton and Rita Ora to that list if we were delving into it! Great picks gorgeous girl xx
