Now that fashion month has well and truly come to a close, I thought I might go through a few of my favourite shows, and highlight a few of the trends to look out for during the next autumn/winter season.
This year, the fall/winter shows gave us a lot more colour than we would usually expect. We saw traditional cool hues, but a much bolder and brighter statement than previous years.
Stunning cobalts, emeralds and fuchsias as well as the always trusty greys and blacks dominated the runways this season, and we saw lots of contrasting tones and colour-blocking to liven up our otherwise dull winter wardrobes.
All-over sweater dressing, stacks of plaid and amazing tailoring are key for the coming colder months.
The benefit of living in opposing seasons to the northern hemisphere, is that in Australia we see what styles and trends we need to be looking out for in the seasons immediately following the runway shows. With autumn well under way and winter therefore immediately around the corner, it’s fantastic knowing that although we may not get immediate access to the pieces from the runway, the colours and styles that we see are often brought to us earlier through our favourite fast-fashion retailers.
So stock up ladies, and prepare yourselves for the always-brutal realisation that our stunning Aussie summer isn’t in fact everlasting.
